Georgia Senate Urged to Honor Reagan
National group endorses February 6th to be recognized for Reagan, democracy
Washington, D.C. - The Georgia House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a resolution on Wednesday that would designate February 6th as “Ronald Reagan Day” in the state. The Ronald Reagan Legacy Project, a national group dedicated to memorializing the late president, applauds the efforts of lawmakers honoring the former president and urges the state senate to approve the resolution.
In his two terms as president, Reagan worked to rid the threat of communism overseas while boosting the American spirit. Despite the strength of growing communist states and a struggling economy, he pushed forward to succeed in halting the expansion of U.S. government and non-democratic governments abroad. His “Reaganomics” spawned one of the greatest periods of economic prosperity and development in American history.
“Ronald Reagan’s birthday is a time for Americans to recognize and appreciate the moral leadership that this great man provided,” said Grover Norquist, chairman of the RRLP. “He led the fight for Democracy and his successes forever changed the international community.”
Georgia currently has three memorials dedicated to the late president, a park and two highways. Despite a majority of Georgian voters selecting native-son Carter in the 1980 election, Reagan’s humble mannerisms and valiant character won him a place in the hearts of the Georgian people in his run for re-election in 1984. He swept the state, winning over 60 percent of the votes.
“It is important that we take every opportunity to recognize President Reagan, for in his nature can be found the essence of America: brave, bold leadership,” concluded Norquist.

National Group Supports “Ronald Reagan Memorial Parkway” in New York
State Senator Libous introduces bill to honor Ronald Reagan
WASHINGTON- Today, the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project (RRLP), a leading force in preserving the ideas of American’s 40th president, applauded the efforts of State Senator Thomas W. Libous (R-C: Binghamton) to honor the former president and urged members of the New York legislature to join Sen. Libous in supporting Ronald Reagan’s legacy of freedom and prosperity. Sen. Libous introduced Senate Bill 6425, which would designate a portion of the state route 434 in the County of Tioga as Ronald Reagan Memorial Parkway.
If passed, Senate Bill 6425 would dedicate the state route 434 from Sulphur Springs Road in the town of Owego to the western boundary of the town of Vestal, in the county of Broome. Ronald Reagan Memorial Parkway would join Warwick, New York’s Ronald Reagan Boulevard as the second dedication to the former president in the state.
“As Chairman of the Transportation Committee, Senator Libous’s leadership in preserving the legacy of Ronald Reagan is commendable,” said Grover Norquist, president of the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project. “There are many ways to honor the former president’s accomplishments renaming state route 434 would be a fine example of one. The legislators in New York should take this opportunity to honor one of the greatest presidents of the 20th century.”
With his tax relief and defeat of the Soviet Empire, Ronald Reagan bestowed pride upon Americans and freedom upon the world. In the 1984 reelection, New York was one of the 49 states that embraced Reagan’s proven leadership as 3,664,763 New Yorkers voted Reagan for four more years.

WASHINGTON- On January 20, 1981, President Ronald Reagan was inaugurated on the terrace of the West Front of the Capitol. Twenty-five years ago today, Americans and lovers of freedom worldwide listened as he laid the course for his administration.
A man born in a small Midwest town of humble background, Ronald Reagan worked with Republicans and Democrats to enact a bold agenda that restored accountability and common sense to government. His economic policies of tax cuts, deregulation and choice for the American taxpayer led to an unprecedented economic expansion.

On the 25th Anniversary of the Reagan Revolution
WASHINGTON- Twenty-five years ago today, Americans and lovers of freedom across the world won a major victory. On November 3, 1980, Ronald Reagan defeated Jimmy Carter by an overwhelming 2-1 margin.

Friday was a huge success!
Christopher D. Butler, Executive Director of RRLP, was interviewed several times today over Ronald Reagan Blvd in Washington, DC. It is truly amazing that the liberals are getting this fired up over the proposal. This only electrifies the grassroots! I mean c'mon! If the liberals had just let this proposal go quietly, we wouldn't be having this discussion! Instead we are now actually debating this excellent piece of legislation! Congressman Bonilla deserves a congratulations for this move.
However, the decision by DC Vote Project to plaster the point person from the Congressman's office is just wrong. So I ask every interested person to place contact DC Vote.org and express your displeasure with their decision. I'd Advise you contact both Ilir Zherka, Executive Director, at Izherka@aol.com or 462-6896 and also Kevin Kiger, the Communications Director at 202-487-7470. They need to be told this isn't a voting issue but rather a fine attempt at honoring a great American. I won't bother to discuss this issue much further tonight but we will take this issue up on Monday.

Congressman Bonilla (R-Texas) Supports Reagan's Legacy!
He recently introduced legislation that will surely upset the left but truly honors our 40th President. The bill would rename 16th NW, Ronald Reagan Blvd. This redesignation only seems appropriate to a Reagan conservative because by any standard Reagan was one of the greatest Americans and fittingly deserves a street leading up to the White House. There is strong symbolism behind this dedication. It is significant because it makes presidential hopefuls aware that Reagan is the President you want to follow if you wish to lead this great country.
Urge your members of Congress to co-sponsor this bill now! We need your support to give this bill some momentum!

Exciting news in the world of Ronald Reagan!
Recently, Rep. Lothian of the Wisconsin legislature proposed new legislation memorializing Ronald Reagan and Harriet Tubman. This is an important time for Wisconsinites to be vocal! We need your support to make sure that Gov. Doyle doesn't feel its appropriate to veto another bill honoring Ronald Reagan. Here is the link for the Wisconsin legislature so you can contact your local representative! http://www.legis.state.wi.us/ These are two great American heroes. Harriet Tubman's courageous acts saved hundreds of slaves. Ronald Reagan freed millions from the horros of Communism. These people deserve fitting dedications.
On another front- Congressman Bonilla of Texas introduced legislation renaming 16th street in NW Ronald Reagan Blvd! This legislation will definitely aggravate some liberals! 16th street contains the AFL-CIO, the Democratic National Committee and all sorts of embassies. This would be such an honor for all involved! (At least we at the RRLP think so!) Contact your congress member and push for them to cosponsor this bill. If you don't know who your congress member is than look it up on http://www.house.gov/. That should provide you with everything you need.
Last but not least. Utah becomes the 24th state to honor President Reagan. This September, the Reagan Academy will open up for the first time to students! Good job everyone in Utah.

Update on a few Reagan Memorials-
Wisconsin is trying to right the wrong that occurred when Governor Doyle decided to exercise his veto "privilege" on a memorial for the "Gipper." Its interesting that like the previous press releases mention. Ronald Reagan continues to receive more support than Doyle could ever imagine in his own state. Ronald Reagan is truly an American hero who contributed to the restoration of an American identity. Reagan communicated optimism and a sense of worth to a nation severely depressed by a hobbling economy and a deteriorating moral fiber. So can someone please explain to Gov. Doyle that politics isn't something you play with American heroes?
On another front, California is looking to place a statue of Reagan in the US Capitol. It's in the beginning stages but is something to be really excited about! It would be a significant statement for Republicans in California if this resolution is finalized. Can you imagine the image that sends the rest of the nation if California, considered a guaranteed Blue state, sends a monument of Reagan to the US Capitol?
